About the Artist:
In 1981, Tim Glover received his Bachelor of Fine Arts at Memphis College of Art and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in sculpture from the University of South Florida. He and his wife moved to Houston in 1986.
Tim Glover taught sculpture at the High School for Performing and Visual Arts from 1997 to 2003. He has received commissions from the City of Houston, Houston’s Metro Light Rail, The Children’s Museum Houston, the Houston International Festival and the recently completed “Healing Nature” for the University of Houston Recreational and Wellness Center.
Mr. Glover has received numerous grants for his professional achievements, including the distinguished Pollack-Krasner Award and the Presidential Scholars Program, Teacher Recognition Award from the U.S. Department of Education, and two grants from the Cultural Arts Council of Houston.
His sculpture has been exhibited in New York, Illinois, California, North Carolina, Florida, Mexico, and throughout the state of Texas. His work is in public, private, and corporate collections throughout the country.
Mr. Glover’s work has been described as imagist in the tradition of the Harry Who School. Grounded in object making, the artist sometimes makes reference to social, political, environmental, and cultural issues with a litle bit of satire mixed in for good measure.
