“As the title infers, Trident Marker carries a nautical theme. Billowing sails, marine life forms, and the strangely bent trident or spear. It is also a reflection of many years of working in steel and of my ongoing interest in the relationship of color to three-dimensional form. The physical extendability of the steel has allowed me to create sculptures such as Trident that can express many themes, ranging from the organic as seen in this sculpture, to other more architectural and environmentally influenced works.” - Jerry Dodd, Artist

About the Artist:

Jerry Dodd lives and works in Commerce, Texas. He received a B.S. in art from Central Michigan University, and a M.F.A. from the University of Oregan. He has been teaching art and sculpture for nearly forty years, the past 24 at Texas A&M at Commerce.

His sculpture, both wall works and free-standing works, are primarily done in painted steel. He says that the capability of “permanently joining two pieces of steel is still exhilarating”. Mr. Dodd has shown his work regionally and nationally.
