Green Ray is constructed of sheets of aluminum, curled and brightly painted with oils. Each curled section is bolted to the next, building to the larger and finished form. Its bright hues of green, yellow, and red accentuate the lines of the sculpture.
About the Artist:
Heather Marcus lived and worked in Dallas, Texas until 1998 when she moved to New York City. She was trained as a painter and a sculptor and graduated with honors from the University of Kansas. Additional studies were at the Kansas City Art Institute and the New York Studio School.
Her work has been included in exhibitions in New York, Florida, Missouri, California, Kansas, and throughout Texas. Ms. Marcus was one of twelve Texas women artists selected to show work at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. Her work is in many private and public collections including the City of Carrollton, the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, GTE Corporation, US Trust, Hallmark, Inc, in Kansas City, and the Howard Hughes Corporation.
